Dirt Road Diaries

I can honestly say that dreams do come true, and let me tell you why. Last week I (along with hundreds of other people) was being sang to by this gorgeous man ♥
via
He was supposed to  perform in Abuquerque, NM I believe back in July but the concert got canceled due to the weather so it got rescheduled for September 22. When I heard he was coming the first time around it was a week before the concert and all the tickets were all sold out. I was soooooo bummed out. About a month later I learned from my best friend that his coworker was selling 2 tickets to Luke Bryan. The previous concert got postponed and the tickets bought for that concert were going to be valid for the one on September 22. Without any hesitation I bought the tickets, and to be honest it was one of the BEST decisions that I have ever made.

When the day of the concert came and I was pumped! I had never been to Albuquerque and hadn't been to a concert in YEARS!!! But after the first hour on the road I started to get antsy, it was my first time driving longer than my commute to school/work (which is about 40 minutes to an hour) and the trip was between 4-5 hours. I know it may not sound far but I have never driven my car for that long, I am usually on the passenger side reading a book or enjoying the view. So being the driver kinda sucked, but the trip was so worth it!

Once we checked in at the hotel we got ready and went to eat before the concert. That's when we noticed that the sky was too cloudy, *oh uh* I thought. Then sure enough when we left the restaurant it started to sprinkle and it was pouring when we hit the freeway. Once we parked it had stopped raining, but it started to sprinkle again when we were in line to get inside but then it stopped once we were inside.

It was soo annoying and the freaking clouds were pissing me off!

They couldn't make up their minds, they were just teasing us. And sure enough when the opening act (Thompson Square) started doing their number it started to sprinkle and little by little it started to increase until it started to downpour on us. Oh did I happened to mention that the concert was OUTDOORS?!?! We got soaked, we were freezing, and I was starting to lose my damn mind. But after an eternity (or an hour, hour and a half) the rain finally stopped and the concert took place.

And once it started I screamed my little heart out!!

It was such an AMAZING concert, here are some pics and videos from the show :)

When he busted out the piano and sang this song I almost fainted., I am SOOO obsessed with this song right now!! ♥

I posted this pictures on instagram a couple of weeks ago, I am going to share it here again just in case you missed it.

And yes, I am sharing it because that's EXACTLY how he makes me feel! I am SOO gonna go and see him again! And this time I am gonna make sure to get closer seats :)

Ps. This is part 1 of my 2 day mini vacation. Part 2 and 3 will be coming soon to a blog near you ;)

Sunday Social #57

What is your dream job?

My dream job would be Dylan's job from Friends with benefits. He is an Art Director for GQ, I would like to work for a retail store or even a fashion house, but we will see where life takes me.

If you had just won the lottery and didn't need to work for money, what would you do with your time?

TRAVEL!!

via

What piece of career advice would you give to someone just starting out in your field?

As of right now I cannot give any 'official' advise since I don't have a 'real' job yet. The only thing I can share is:

via

What would be your ideal "just for fun" job?

To be honest? I work at a retail store and I get to dress people and I totally LOVE it! It's like playing with real barbie dolls! I get to share my knowledge of fashion and give tips to my customers :)

What was your first "real" job?

Don't have one yet. But hope I find one soon after graduating from college. Perhaps I should start looking soon......

A late Sunday Social and 2 birthdays.

Sorry I've been a little MIA guys, I've just been busy with school, work and with a little someone called Luke Bryan ;) I'm not spilling the beans on that one just yet so you will have to wait! So instead I am posting this week's Sunday Social (a couple of days late) and I am giving a shout out to two important members of my family.

Today is my big brother's birthday, and being the awesome sister that I am I baked him a cake

which came out really good if  I do say so myself! But my big brother is not the only one with a birthday today, 14 years ago, when we were celebrating his birthday at the Chamizal (this BIG park) we bought this little black fuzz ball.

 photo 083.jpg

She was 2 months when we got her and she has been with us ever since. She was the first family dog  so of course we spoiled her to death. And today was no exception, I baked her some mini doughnuts and I put some yogurt as frosting (I found the recipe online) I wish I would've taken some pictures but she just couldn't wait any longer  lol

So I want to wish both of them a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

What is your favorite handbag you've ever owned?

I have about 2-3 channel bags and those are my babies!

What is your dream handbag you lust over?

I have been lusting over this Classic flap bag for YEARS!!

I have always loved Chanel, their products are so classy and timeless and this bag (part of their iconic collection) is just that. And it's GORGEOUS! I start drooling just by looking at it *sigh*

What are the daily essentials in your purse or work bag?

I MUST carry my:

wallet
phone
car keys
shades
kindle

What's in your purse?

Aside from the items mentioned in the previous question I also carry:

my make-up bag
agenda
lotion
my chargers (kindle/phone)

DOS [and a giveaway]

My little man AKA my Godson turned two today. And of course I made sure to ask for the day off so I could go and see his pretty little face.

When we got to my Uncle's house and Eiden saw me he dropped whatever he was doing and he ran towards me screaming "Nina, Nina" with a HUGE smile on his face. I swear my heart just melted right then and there. He is such a cutie that it's so hard not to love him. Of course we spent the whole afternoon with my family and had a cook out for Eiden's birthday and my Aunt's. (Her birthday was yesterday) I love days like these where I get to spend time with my family, have some delicious food and some tres leches cake :)

Here are some pics of today's festivities!

If you can't tell he REALLY liked his cake lol. Wish I would've taken more pictures but I was so busy playing with Eiden and helping in the kitchen that I kind of forgot until it was time to cut the cake. I will make sure I do better next year :)

****************************************************************

And to help you start your weekend off the right way here is a giveaway! (oh hey that rhymed!)

My friend Amber from My Three Bittles is having yet another birthday giveaway (her actual birthday was on Wednesday) so let's help Amber celebrate her birthday by entering this AMAZING giveaway! GOOD LUCK :D

Out with the old, in with the new

I don't like complaining, that's not what life is all about. But I have been having such a terrible week that I cannot help but to do a little venting.

I have an Iphone, and if you are (or know of someone) who is an iphone owner then you know that you have to be really REALLY careful with the phone, because they tend to break really easily if you drop them. Well I've had my iphone4 for about 2 years, and that bad boy lasted me through some pretty nasty falls, through some water damage and to it being tossed across the room. (Not by me btw) so when it fell from the bathroom sink I was pretty pleased that it had landed face down without a scratch, but when I was about to unlock it -dun dun DUN- the graphics were all messed up.

Meaning that I can only see about a quarter of my screen because the rest of it is just black. The whole "touch system" still works but I can barely see what I am doing. Luckily, I know my phone like the back of my hand so I know where everything is so I can still kinda text, listen to Pandora and make phone calls. But I cannot use any social medias, like Instagram. Or even SnapChat for that matter.

This happened a couple of days ago so I am trying to learn to deal with it for the mean time. Why not just repair it or upgrade it you may ask (or at least I hope you are) well because there is no point in me upgrading to the iphone5 when the iphone5s comes out on September 20. Well technically you can start pre ordering it then, so I am just gonna wait to get that one instead..

via

Look how pretty it looks! Plus with the IOS7 this phone is gonna be the talk of the town. So I am just gonna deal with my broken one because it's going to be ALL worth it :) Just look at all the cool stuff it's going to have:
via

Touch ID (finger print scanner)
Faster Processing
Better battery life
Improved camera (wider f/2.0 aperture and dual-LED flash)
Storage options up to 128 GB
New colors (gold and champagne)

Hope this post doesn't make me sound like a tech nerd lol. I cannot wait  to have this bad boy in my hands tho!

Are you getting the new Iphone? Why or why not?

Sunday Social #55

What is the name of your blog?

What do you love most about blogging?

I truly do love being part of this amazing and supporting community, when things started to go a little sour for me MANY of my readers and fellow bloggers showed me their love and support through encouraging comments and emails. And to me that's what blogging is all about. Getting to share my story with others in the hopes that I will inspire others and also that hopefully others will learn from my successes and mistakes.

Why did you start blogging?

At first I thought, why not? I have a computer, I am a decent writer, so why not give it a try? But as time passed by I realized that I truly did enjoy blogging. It's something different, it helps my creative juices flow, and I can express myself without a care in the world.

What is something you’d want to tell someone just starting out in the blog world?

via

Be YOU. As a newbie you are exposed to sooo many blogs and bloggers, you may like someone's style of writing, or you may like what they share, and there is nothing wrong with that. But you gotta find your OWN voice and share your OWN thoughts and feelings. There is nothing worse than a copycat. We bloggers do not appreciate it, you gotta give credit where credit is due and not steal anyone else's content or ideas. There is nothing wrong with asking for help or just simply asking questions to a blogger with more years of experience.

Biggest blogging learning experience you’ve had?

Don't sweat the small stuff. I remember my first ever giveaway. I honestly had no idea what to do and it took me HOURS to figure it out. But even after that I was freaking out because I didn't know if I had done it right. Later on I realized that EVERYONE makes mistakes, whether it is on their spelling, or their rafflecopter, etc. etc.

What are three blogs you love?

My Three Bittles

You can't get any more real than Amber and her FamBam. Like seriously, she shares the good and the bad things about her life. And that's the kind of blogger I think EVERYONE should be like!

Living Yellow

Who doesn't love this blog? I mean I know that we all secretly wish we could switch places with Erin and live her fabulous life, but I truly do love her blog. When I read her blog, she writes it in a way that it makes me think that we are friends having a cup of coffee and she is just telling me about her day. I am dead serious.

The Chiffon Diary

Nicholl is just fabulous and I wish I had her closet. Her sense of style is AMAZING!

Fabulous Fall Essentials

Can you believe fall is just around the corner?? September 22nd to be more precise. And with the a new season comes new fashion. So today I am sharing some of fall essentials that every girl should have in her closet.

1. Scarfs

via

Or scarves if you prefer to spell it that way. It truly wouldn't feel like fall without some scarfs! In my opinion they give an outfit a little bit more attitude and style. I am in love with these two from Sammy's Fabulous Jewelry, because although they are two different styles both are fashionable and can go with any outfit.  In my personal opinion I am all about big patters on scarfs :)

If you like these then guess what? You are in LUCK! Sammy's Fabulous Jewelry will be having a Facebook scarf sale TONIGHT! (8pm EST) You can buy them directly  through their Facebook page, it's super easy! All you gotta do is:

scroll through their scarf album
comment "sold" if you want to purchase a scarf
register (tab below cover photo)
OR
by writing your email address and they will invoice you through pay pal.

They ship fast and FREE! But that is not all! Use promo code girlbooklet1 to get 15% off! Uh yeah, you are welcome ;)

2. Cardigans:

via

Like I mentioned on this week's Sunday Social I believe that you can never have too many cardigans. There are so many styles to choose from, from casual to dressy, and they go great with any outfit!

Just look at what this girl did! She was able to create TEN different outfits using the same cardigan.

3. Boots+ high socks

via
I am all about riding boots, I have some black ones that I bought earlier this year (at the end of season sale) and I cannot wait to rock them. Plus I like how they look with high socks, it makes the look casual but chic.

4. Tights

via
These are perfect if you still want to wear shorts/skirt/dress in the fall, it makes those pieces look more in season. Plus if you wear tights with a bold pattern it will really add more attitude to your outfit. Have fun with your tights, and buy those unique looking styles to stand out!

via
5. Sweaters

via
Cable knit sweaters to be more precise. These are just like the cardigans, you can style them different ones and you can never have too many. They go great with anything from shorts, to dresses, to jeans. And they are super comfy!

What are your fall essentials?

What is your favorite fall activity?

via

Going to the corn maze of course! Haven't been in a couple of years and I am super stocked because I get to go this year!

I am a cheesehead! My Godparents are Packers fans and so are their 3 kids so it kind of rubbed off on me ;)
What is something fun about fall in your area?

Well the corn maze is one of them, haunted houses, town fairs, the fall festival, wine festival etc etc.

What are your favorite fall staple outfits?

via

Cardigans!! You can never have too many. They honestly go great with anything, you can dress them up or down and there are so many styles of it.
What things are his looking forward to most about this coming fall season?

Obsessed ♥

The titled of this post is pretty much self explanatory, today I will be sharing with my latest obsessions.

The minute I saw them I fell in love with them, I am OBSESSED with skeleton keys so these were perfect! besides I have never anyone with nails like these so that was a plus too!

3. Florence and the machine

via

First of all I LOVE her hair, which I could pull of that hair color and second of all I LOVE her voice. I think it's so unique and beautiful. I currently have this song and repeat and I still cannot get enough of it:

4. Cheetah print

Well I am OBSESSED with my cheetah scarf from Maurices to be more presice (which you can buy here) I think that cheetah print has been over done BUT it can still look nice, classy and fresh if done in the right way like Lauren Conrad does it here:

via
5. My school bag

Which I also bought from Maurices (and you can get here) of course mine is the brown one

I actually had to ask my coworkers to see which one was cuter and we all agreed that the brown one was better. !

What are YOU currently obsessing about?
