Snow in November

I live in the south of Texas, in the freaking desert. So you can only imagine how people get when it rains or even when it snows.. they go into PANIC mode. People turn into HORRIBLE drivers which means getting on the road that much scarier. So on Sunday morning when I woke up I was not a happy camper when I found out it had snowed during the night. Not because I hate snow, (I LOVE it) but because I had to go to work and I wouldn't have a chance to enjoy the snow. So because my parents taught me good work ethics I didn't call it.

I was supposed to be in at work at 9 but I wanted to get there at 8 to help my manager with the new floor set, so I set my alarm for 5:30 to be on the road a little before 7 and be there at 8. My commute is usually a 30 minute drive but I wanted to take my time, and be safe than sorry. But I suppose you can say that I hit the snooze button one too many times so I called her to let her know that I was going in at my normal time. So I left my house at 8:10 to be at work at 9. My boss had checked the roads for me and said that the only part of the highway that was classified as "dangerous" was way past my exit so I was good to go. So of course I was not worried at all, but little did I know that the highway got closed at the last minute so I had to go the back way. So instead of taking me an hour max to get to work it took me TWO freaking hours!!

I was stuck in front of these cows for more than half an hour, I got so bored that I started having a one way conversation with them, I gave them names and life stories. I know it sounds lame but it helped pass the time. Plus I was listening to my Justin Timberlake station on Pandora. So I may or may not have sang some Justin and N'sync songs to those poor cows (okay I totally did, and I am pretending they enjoyed the free concert.)

So after all that hussle I got to work to an even bigger one. Floor sets are no joking manner (if you have worked in retail then you know my pain, if you never have then consider yourself lucky) This is one of the things what I had to deal with:

Yup. That's my manager alright.

You can't really appreciate this MASSIVE mountain of clothes in this picture but trust me, when I say that they were A LOT of clothes from mannequins that we had to undress and dress up again with the new collection. Took us about an hour JUST to sensor the clothes and hang them up.  Sunday was NOT a good day to be working, we had a lot to do BUT to be honest I kinda love days like these, I rather have a million and one things to do rather than not have anything to do at all. Plus thanks to the holidays being so close we were super busy with customers. So you can say that I had a hectic day.

Have you started doing your Holiday shopping?

Sunday Social #64

This week's Sunday Social is a little different. There are no random questions to answer, instead in honor of Thanksgiving we are supposed to share what we are thankful for.  I tried not to go to crazy, since there are so many things I am thankful for, but these are my main ones:

I am thankful for my family

This is the closest I have to a family picture, ( my brother is missing) It's very rare when my brother and sister are in town at the same time. So whenever they are I tried to enjoy them both as much as I can. I am thankful for having such a supporting and loving family. They are always there for me, through my ups and downs. They have helped me become the person that I am today and for that I thank them.

I am thankful for my godson

I feel very blessed to have been chosen to be Eiden's godmother. This kid has changed me completely and I love him for it.I wish I could see his pretty face more often but unfortunately I can't, so whenever I do I make the most out of it.There is never a dull moment with him. The best feeling in the world? When he call me Nina <3 font="">

I am thankful for my friends

Amanda: 10 years of friendship down. Forever more to go. We pretty much grew up together, but we also grew up apart. But even then we still managed to be close, to support each other and just be our crazy selves when we were together.

Jamie: Haven't been friends for long, but that doesn't matter. I know I can truly count on her when I need her. She is always looking out for me and I adore her for that. Like today, she surprised me with some Starbucks and a cookie just because she knew I had a tough morning (will explain in tomorrows post)

John: With almost 5 years of friendship I have learned that I can count on him to pick me up when I fall. I have also learned that we are waaaaaaaaaay to similar sometimes and that tends to not be good sometimes. But we manage to overcome that and continue to be us.

I am thankful for my coworkers

I truly feel blessed to have the job that I do. I love what I do, and the fact that I get to do it alongside these ladies just makes it ten times better! They are the best coworkers (and boss) that I've ever had and wouldn't trade them for the world.

I am thankful for my pups

They are annoying, disobedient, spoiled, and crazy. But they are MY dogs and I honestly would not have it any other way They are great companions and even better cuddlers.

And of course I am thankful for this wonderful life that I was granted.

For all the ups and downs, for all the good times and the bad. Because they had led me to where I am and they will lead me to where I need to be.

A round of applause a standing ovation

So I haven't posted anything since Nov. 8th, which was exactly a week ago. I have been a little busy with school and homework and well, pretty much living my life. Which got me to wonder.. how in HELL do other bloggers post like EVERY single day or pretty close to that? Like seriously? I feel very proud of myself if I post 3 times a week, and when I do 4 posts a week I feel like an overachiever!

But I have seen bloggers post on a daily basis, even when they have a similar lifestyle as mine, or even when they are parents.Which makes the rest of us look bad! So to those of you who manage to post on a daily basis or close to it...

via

I give you a round of applause, a standing ovation. You truly deserve it for being so awesome and dedicated to your blogs. I truly want to give my blog my 110% but to be honest sometimes whenever I do all my deep thinking (like when I am showering or running at the gym) I come up with so many ideas for my blog and topics that I feel like stopping whatever I am doing and just start writing all these ideas down. But then when it comes down to actually blogging about them I just walk by my computer, look at it and turn the other way.

Sometimes it just feels like a chore, and I don't want it to be like that. Maybe I am just going through a funk, because that is not what I want blogging to be. I want it to be fun, and something I LOVE and WANT to do, not feel like I have to just to stay relevant.

So if any of you have gone through a phase like this I would REALLY appreciate if you could share with me what you did to get out of it. Or if you post on daily basis, how in HECK do you do it?

MY COLLEGE LIFE 101. PART 8

In my one of my college life posts, "My College Life 101 part 6"  to be more exact (which you can read about it here) I shared with ya'll that this semester  was going to be my last. But because everything else has been going so great in my personal life -NOT- my college life decided to be a part of it. So after having met with my adviser I will no longer be graduating in December, here is why:

It seems that my staff adviser and  I failed to notice that I still had to take 1 prerequisite (Finance) before I could take this upper Management class. Well he told me to go to the advising center to see what steps I could take so I could graduate in December. So I went to the advising center and talked to an adviser who gave me a 'add/drop' slip and told me that all I had to do was talk to the Management teacher and ask if I could take Finance AND Management concurrently, so I went to the teacher's office, but he wasn't there, so I wrote down his office hours and made sure to go during that time so I could catch him but I went to BOTH of his office days and nothing! So I had to go online and get his email, I told him about my situation and asked him when we could meet so he could sign my slip. Well after a couple of days he answered me back saying that he couldn't do that, that I had to talk to someone else who could give the approval. So I did.

I had to explain my situation again to the Interim Dean, we exchanged a couple of emails back and forth, she asked me why I hadn't taken the class, and so on and so forth. She replied to my emails quickly at first, but then all of a sudden they stopped. I figured it was normal since it was during the summer and she was probably either really busy or out of town, but after almost a month of not hearing back from her I sent her two emails asking her if she needed more info from me and blah blah blah. It took her a couple more weeks to respond to me, and when she finally did I almost wish she hadn't. Her email read:

"Jessica, I regret to inform you that you cannot take Finance and Management concurrently.. blah blah blah."

That has honestly been the WORST email I have EVER received! So I went back to the advising center last week in the hopes that I was given the wrong information and I could in fact finish college in December. Well, after almost TWO hours of waiting I finally got to see an adviser, and after explaining my situation for a last time she told me that I could appeal to the school in the hopes of taking both classes at the same time, but that could take weeks. At this point I was disappointed/sad/mad/frustrated at myself I honestly just wanted to be done with school already, and was not looking forward to having to take just ONE class that I need next semester and 3 bullshit elective classes (I need 4 to be 'full-time' and be able to pay in-state tuition.)

After what seemed like FOREVER my adviser and I did some brainstorming, I figured since I was already having to take an extra semester I would just pursue a minor in Advertising since I had pretty much taken almost all of the class requirements, but then my adviser noticed that I can actually get TWO minors with the extra semester! So not only will I be getting my bachelor's in Marketing, but I will also be getting a minor in Advertising AND in Management! So somehow things will work out a little bit in my favor!

So I am going to bust my butt and make sure that these in these two last semesters I do AMAZING so I can get my diploma in May of 2014 :)

What is a tv show, movie, or song that you could watch or listen to over and over and never get tired of?

I have seen this movie twice in the last week and I kinda want to watch again! I think it's cute, funny, romantic and Mark Ruffalo looks so cute in it!
