Julep Maven Intro box Review

So I've been noticing that a lot of fellow bloggers have subscription to monthly beauty boxes. So I decided to do the same and see what the fuzz is about! I came across JULEP and noticed that they offered a monthly subscription so I decided to start with this company.  Here is some information from their website:
"Becoming a Julep Maven gives you exclusive access to COLOR. Each month we hand-pick trendsetting new nail colors, cult faves and cutting-edge beauty products that are just right for you. Commitment shy? No problem. YOU decide how often to receive your Julep Maven box, and you can cancel at any time."

So all you gotta do is follow 3 simple steps and ta-dah! You are subscribed.

Step 1:  Take the Julep maven style quiz. This is completely free,  the quiz helps Julep pick colors that will go with your style! The quiz will give you 1 of 3 results 'Bombshell,' 'American Beauty' or 'Classic with a twist.'

Step 2:  After completing the quiz you will see the results and what you could receive if you sign up for  the monthly subscription.

Step 3: You are all done! Once you sign up for the introductory box you will receive it within 3 business days.

The benefits of ordering the introductory box:
  • It only costs 1 penny, that's right just one penny! Julep gives you a code to enter so your purchase will come out to 1 penny.
  • There are no  S&H fees!
  • You get to try out the products before making any big commitments :)
So now let me show you MY introductory box! After taking the quiz my result was "Classic with a twist"
My box was sent "USPS FIRST-CLASS PKG' so my box arrived safe and sound!

"Welcome to Maven! We jumped and cheered when you became a Julep maven (I hope you heard us!)-Jane Park

The inside of my box :)

This is what I received: 2 nail polishes and a pedi creme!

Rose and Robin

Rose: Juicy watermelon red creme.
Robin: Robin's egg blue creme.

"Julep the best pedi creme ever"
Exfoliates with alpha hydroxy acids, hydrates with shea butter and coconut oil, nourishes with vitamin E. Apply nightly for n noticeable results in just 1 to 2 uses."

Overall I would recommend to try their introductory box, the products are great ( I already tried Robin and I LOVE it!)  they come in good sizes AND like I mentioned it before it's only ONE PENNY!

Simply the best!

There is a "new-ish" store in my town, (it opened late March) and let me tell you, it's AMAZING!
So the store I am talking about is Maurices, it's a small town specialty store. Which means that it won't be in big cities like Phoenix or Los Angeles, but it will be in the suburbs around those cities. To find a Maurices near you just click here!

Okay so let me get to the good part and let me tell you why I LOVE this store:

Reason number 1:
  • This store has some INCREDIBLE sales! For example this week they  have a sale on their denim. You get $5 off your purchase just by TRYING on their denim. That's right just trying! I think that is pretty awesome! But if you tried them and loved them then you get $10 off for every pair that you buy! Which is even better :) Maurices also has clearance on their website for 75% off! Yup, you read right 75% off! Which takes me to...
Reason number 2:
  • When you order items from online you have 2 delivery options , you can either deliver your items to your front steps or to the nearest Maurices near you. Ok so you might be asking yourself why deliver it to the store instead of to my house? Well I asked myself the same questions and here are the reasons why you SHOULD send it to the store (if there is one close to you of course) By sending it to the store you save a couple of bucks on shipping AND you can just try the clothes at the store and in case something doesn't fit just return it right then and there!
Reason number 3:
  • The staff is VERY friendly and helpful! I've been to so many stores and there is probably only a handful that have given me great customer service and Maurices is one of them! I like going to a store where I feel comfortable and I know that if I have a question there will be someone to answer my question. Not going to a store where the staff just follows me around like I am going to steal something!! Ugh I really do not like to use the word hate because it's such a strong word but I HATE those stores, they make me feel so uncomfortable!
Reason number 4:
  • On top of having a beautiful store, they have beautiful fitting rooms!
picture from: adorkableashie.wordpress.com
AND the staff writes your name on the small board that's hanging on the door. So instead of not knowing who is trying on clothes they know exactly who you are! Which makes it more personal because they know who I am and what I am looking for and what size I wear. Which makes me feel like I am being given the VIP treatment :)

Reason number 5: Just by "liking" their Facebook page you could be eligible to win a A YEAR'S WORTH OF DENIM!!!!
So just click on the picture ^ to go directly to their facebook page.Good luck to all of you who are entering this sweet sweepstake! And lastly...

Reason number 6:
  • Maurices just joined the blogging community! Their blog "Happily Obsessed" is written by Erin!  Add her on twitter by clicking here and tell her that Jessica from Girl Booklet sent you her way :) Follow her on twitter to keep up with her blog and the latest Maurices news! Also check out the blog to learn of different ways to keep up with her blog!
Like I said I LOVE this store and I have bought sooo many cute things at such great prizes! Keep up with my blog to see my outfit posts featuring Maurices items!

What a pair of junior scissors can do!

As I was looking through my closet, I came across this "blazer" that I've had for years.
I believe I bought it during my senior year of high school because of a school competition, we had to look formal and I knew I was only going to wear my outfit for one day, so I just bought this "blazer" at Wal-mart.
It's a nice "blazer" don't get me wrong, it's just that well it used to be black, over the years and many washes the color has faded.
I want to believe that it doesn't fit me around the sleeves because I grew but I know that's not really true :( So I'm just gonna have to blame it on the dryer.
The only way I could wear it without looking silly was by rolling up the sleeves, but that got boring AND it felt really tight, I was about to just give it away when....
I spotted my junior scissors on my desk (yes I said junior don't judge! haha)
This gave me the idea of giving my "blazer" a make over :)
Just by cutting the sleeves it made it look completely different!

I totally love it! So the sleeves are gone *bye bye sleeves* and the next step will be to add some bling or maybe something else, I don't know yet . I'm gonna look around for ideas. Or if any of you lovely people have any ideas share them on my comments! :)

Meet my sponsor- Sugarlips

I was recently contacted by a member of Sugarlips who encouraged me to apply to their 'blogger partnership program' so I said why not? I mean it doesn't hurt to try, so I did. I had never heard of this brand before so I checked it out, and let me tell you that I fell in love with pretty much everything on their website! Their items are super cute and fashionable! And best of all their items are affordable and they have great sales!

So who is Sugarlips?
From their site:
'Sugarlips Apparel, located in Los Angeles California, was founded by fashion enthusiast Charles Park in 2002. Sugarlips started with just a small line of sweaters and within a few years Sugarlips grew to be the largest manufacturer of seamless apparel in North America. Sugarlips has since then expanded its line and now produces fashionable contemporary clothing at affordable prices, which are available all over the world and carried by most major department stores, including Macys, Nordstrom's Dillard's, and many more.
Sugarlips has grown from the largest North American manufacturer of seamless apparel, to the fashion forward contemporary brand you see today. At Sugarlips our goal is to provide quality female fashion at affordable prices.'

It has so many beautiful details:  the dress is mainly yellow but the top has blue and some gray, there is a zipper in the front, it has a cutout in the back and the bottom has that 'high-low'  finish. I am so in love with this dress. When I received it I was jumping up and down with joy. My boyfriend and I went to this beautiful park near us where we had a small "photo shoot". To check out the rest of the pictures simply click here

You can purchase the dress here, Trust me it's worth it. The prize is $32, and  the sizes range from XS-L. Plus Sugarlips offers FREE SHIPPING! AND 365 days returns! If that doesn't convince you to check them out I do not know what will!

A letter to you..

Dear Girl Booklet Readers:

I would like to take this time to apologize for my long absence, it has been 11 days since my last post, it may not be a long time for some, but to me it has felt like an eternity! I haven't blogged for a couple of reasons. First, after my last post I took a couple of days off from work to go and spend time with my family. I had a wonderful time with them, sometimes its hard and it feels weird to not see them everyday like I used to, but I guess that's part of growing up. But before I go on to the next reason I want to share a couple of pictures from my trip.

Meet my baby cousin Aiden, he is 10 months old and he is my world♥
I love this munchkin to death!
My cousin getting his 'diploma' from elementary school, next semester he will be attending middle school.
My mom and I at the ceremony.
My cousin Kevin and I.
After my mini-vacation I came back home, and that's when I got sick. I had the stomach flu for a couple of days, so all I did was rest and try to get better. And once I did I worked long shifts at work, so on my times off all I wanted to do was just be lazy and rest up before my next shift, but really couldn't because of summer school.

But not to worry my readers! I have figured things out and I am back and better than ever!  My blog has become such a big part of my life that during my hiatus all I could think about was my blog, it felt weird not blogging. So I came up with different topics and ideas I will be sharing with you all in the near future! I am really excited about this!So don't go anywhere and stay tuned!
