Jessica Lately

So it has been been a little bit over two months (almost going on three) since I moved back to my parents house, which to be honest it doesn't seem like it has been that long. But in that time I have managed to get my life back together, there are days that I am still sad and angry about what happened. (If you are lost as to what I am talking about, you might want to play catch up and read this post) But overall I think I am doing pretty well. School is going good with the exception of Finance. That class is giving me issues but I have been studying really hard lately so I can improve my grades.

Work is going amazing! I recently had my annual review and I met my standards,

I even got a raise! (Yay me!)

I have also been spending a lot of quality time with my family:

I have been catching up with old friends

and I have also made new ones.
'
And of course I have been enjoying my free time:

Right now my main focus is me, I am trying to focus on what's to come (life after college) which to be honest is a VERY scary thought. I want to do an internship first, so I can get a taste of the real world and decide what I want to do. With Marketing you can work for pretty much any company and different departments, I still have my eyes on Fashion Marketing but I guess we will see where life takes me.

I also still have my eyes set on Portland, the more I keep on talking about it and the more I keep on hearing wonderful things about it I fall in love with it even more. Sometimes I wish I could just grab my bags and go there once and for all. But I suppose patience is a virtue that I must master and will have to wait. I mean, a year goes by fast.... right?

Sunday Social #61

What was your favorite Halloween costume as a kid?

Being a princess! I mean what little girl does NOT want to be a princess? Even just for a day?

If you could go back to your childhood and dress up as something, what would it be?

via

I mean.. this is just too cute. Plus look at her and her sasiness! I would've loved to look like her walking down the street.
What was your favorite Halloween costume as an adult?

To be honest I have yet to have one. I have been catwoman and that's about it. Because I am usually working so it's rare that I dress up. But I have always wanted to be princess Jasmine or Ariel, they are my favorite princesses! I have also ALWAYS wanted to dress up as a flapper and I have yet to do it!

What is your favorite Halloween candy?

COOKIES AND CREAM HERSHEY'S!!!

What is your favorite Halloween memory?

Going trick or treating with BOTH my parents. For the most part my Dad would just stay home and give out the candy, but whenever he would come trick or treating it was the best. We would go to more houses and I had someone to carry me when I got tired lol

What is your favorite scary movie?

Oh, I ABSOLUTELY hate scary movies. I refuse to watch them, I have seen a couple but I have to prepare myself for it for like a week. Not because I think things are real, but because I tend to have nightmares. And because I do not like getting scared and scream like a little girl in front of people. Plus I hate how gruesome they can be!

Sunday Social #60

I apologize for the lack of posts, but this past week was rough. I had 2 exams (on the same day) a thousand word paper to write and a Marketing project that I had to do a lot of research on. I was done with all of it by Friday night. So I took Saturday as a 'vacation day' and relaxed and hang out with my family at the farm on Saturday night. We had a cook out and a camp fire, it was pretty cool because we got to see the gorgeous moon and a meteor pass by!

So hopefully this coming week won't be so tough on my poor college student's butt. Anyways, here are today's Sunday Social's questions :)

What do you value most in life?

My family, specially my relationship with my parents. They mean the world to me, they are my biggest supporters.

What do you think is the greatest invention in your life and why?

Cell phones and social media. With them I am able to communicate with friends and family who are far away, I am able to share my day to day experiences with them in just a matter of seconds.

What do you think is the secret to a good life?

To have the love and support of your friends and family. To be happy with who you are and what you have.

What would you most like to be remembered for when you're gone?

As someone who had a big heart, who did the best she could for others and someone who loved unconditionally.

What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of?

The fact that I've been through a lot of rough patches in my life and I am still here, fighting to keep on going and determined to find love and happiness. Whenever that may be.

Sunday Social #59

What is the first blog you ever followed?

I believe it was Josephine Nychole which back then was My Mane Blog. She was kind of the reason why I started blogging :)

What was your first blog post about?

My first blog post, "First blog entry" I know, very original right? It was about just me introducing my blog and what I had hoped to accomplish with it. Ever since then the direction of my blog has changed a couple of times. I am still trying to find my voice as a blogger (yes after more than 1 year) and as a person.

Who left you your first blog comment?

Her name is Heather Krystal, and she left it on my first blog post. This is what she said:

"Your blogging world is turning out beautifully! Lets swap buttons!! i'm still a noob myself so lets stick it out together! "

Who was the first blogger you ever met in person?

It was Nykki from Josephine Nychole, she is my ex boyfriend's sister, we went up to Phoenix for her graduation last may.

What was your first "blogging milestone"?

I had two blogging milestones in the same month. I was nominated for the Liebster Blog Award (which you can read about here) and I gained 100 followers! I did a giveaway for that, I believe it was my first one too :)

The Farm Life

 photo 42420E03-D754-4176-B838-1F96438645A1-4990-0000041E8D71F07E_zpsd3da3fa8.jpg

My parents own a small farm, which may be a fact that I may or may have not shared before. I'm not sure how big it is, but it's big enough for it to have 4 horses, and countless sheep. My Dad also built a small chapel and a storage, and is planning on building a small house there in the future.

The farm requires A LOT of work, mostly because of the animals who need to be fed and given water twice a day. On top of that the field needs to be watered, but the system that those farms have is just ridiculous, since sometimes it takes my Dad about 6 hours to water it, and he usually gets the water late at night. So he comes home like at 2-3 in the morning sometimes.

But having a farm also has its perks. Such as:

Fresh fruits!

 photo 42b27efd-e524-427f-8a42-7e6b999b6d65_zpsbd510138.jpg

This is actually the first batch of first fruit that the farm has produced! Not brag or anything but they are one of the best watermelons I have ever tasted! So juicy and full of flavor! Just thinking about it makes my mouth water!

Animals!

In total my parents have 4 horses and I have no idea how many goats! There are so many that I have lost count of them haha

These are the rest of the animals, but my Dad wants to have more. He wants to have chickens and rabbits and pretty much the whole enchilada.

Gorgeous afternoons!

During the day it is so hot! You sweat more than a sinner in church, and you can get a really bad tan if you don't put sunblock at least every other hour. BUT once the sun starts to go down, and the stars start coming out and it seems like the rest of the world just stops. It is just so relaxing and the sunsets are breath taking.

 photo 1dd15c93-1648-4c09-a414-cff8f9837406_zpsa5e5f100.jpg

it gets so quiet and peaceful. And the sunsets there are just gorgeous. I love having cook outs there, because we get to make s'mores afterwards and just sit around the fire and share some stories. So now that I am back living with my parents I am looking forward to going there more often and riding the horses! (Which I've only done once in MY LIFE!!!) So I am super stoked :D

There is no more perfect song to go with this post than Luke Bryan's "Welcome to the farm" so enjoy :)

Botanic Garden

So the last stop in my Albuquerque trip was the Botanic Garden which was right next door to the Aquarium (you can read about that here)

I honestly fell in love with this place, it was just beautiful and very peaceful. The Bio Park  "includes a 10,000 square-foot glass conservatory, a 10-acre Heritage Farm, the PNM Butterfly Pavilion, a Japanese Garden, a model train display, and a whimsical Children’s Fantasy Garden." via

We visited all of them, my favorite two were the Japanese garden and the Children's Fantasy Garden, the later one brought out the kid in me.

The Japanese Garden

It "hosts a majestic waterfall, an elegant koi pond and a mixture of Japanese and local plants. Stone lanterns and pagoda sculptures dot the grounds and stone and wooden bridges straddle small streams." via

Heritage Farm

The Heritage Farm was just that, a farm with a cute house, a stable, a grape vine and more. This section of the farm is a re-creation of a 1930s era farmstead.

 Children's Fantasy Garden

"There is always music amongst the trees in the garden, but our hearts must be very quiet to the hear it"
Like I said it brought out the kid in me, I felt like I fell into the rabbit hole and ended up in Wonderland. Everything in the place was "giant size" so it makes you feel like you are part of the money "honey I shrunk the kids."
,
Although it was only a two day trip I had an AMAZING time, I am sooo gonna go see Luke Bryan again, and perhaps I am gonna take another trip up to Albuquerque and see what else the city has to offer.

A visit to the aquarium

Sorry it has taken me 2 weeks to share with ya'll about my trip to Albuquerque, but I have been SUPER busy with school, this semester has been kicking my butt! But anyways, here is how the rest of my trip went!

So  for those of you who don't know, the reason  I went to Albuquerque was to go to the Luke Bryan concert (you can read all about it here) so the day after the concert I told my parents that I was going to head back home early so I could make it back in time for my afternoon classes. YEAH RIGHT!! I hadn't been out of town in a while and I had never been to Albuquerque, so of course I stayed. After all school is not going anywhere.

So after checking out of the hotel we went out to eat, had Red Robin YUUUUUUUUUUUMMM! Then we headed to the aquarium (since we don't have one in our town thought it would be fun) So off we went.

The ABQ Biopark Aquarium is located next door to the Rio Grande Botanic Garden. The ABQ Biopark Aquarium exhibits Gulf of Mexico saltwater species from a variety of habitats, including surf zone, shallow waters, coral reefs, open ocean and deep ocean.

Here are some of the pics I took:

I wanted to touch a sting ray soooo bad but they wouldn't come near me. Those jerks.

The tank where the jellyfish were looked like a giant lava lamp. I loved it.

we both liked this dude lol

The lobsters were HUGE!

The only turtle in the aquarium, can you believe it?

sharks.sharks.sharks

This is the coolest bench I have ever seen!

I honestly felt like a little kid looking at all the fishies! lol
I still have one more posts to share about my trip. So stay tuned :)
