Class of 2014

After 4 and a half years full of  a lot of studying, a lot of projects and papers to write, a lot of headaches and stressful moments and  a lot of ups and downs on Saturday, May 10th 2014 I set foot on New Mexico State University for the very last time.

I graduated with a major in Marketing and a minor in Advertisement and minor in Management.

Of course right after the ceremony and ever since then people have been asking me "so how does it feel to be done with college?" and my answer has been the same "doesn't feel like I am done." I feel like I still have something else to do, like register for my fall classes or start saving to buy my books or something of some sort. Hopefully the feeling will go away once I ACTUALLY receive my diploma in the mail or when it's fall and I no longer have to go to class while my coworkers and friends still do.

Fellow Alumni, did you experience the same feeling? Or the moment that you put your cap and gown you felt relieved because you knew the day was finally here?

Of course I couldn't have achieved this big mile stone in my life if it wasn't for my parents. From their love and support to their (sometimes emotional) pep talks I kept my eyes on the prize. I didn't want to disappoint them, so I worked my butt off at work and at school, so they would know that they made a hard working woman out of me. I am the youngest of 3 children and the first one to graduate from college, after a year of attending college my brother decided to take some time off, and now, years later he is back at it and is working on getting his Bachelor's in Accounting. My sister knew right away that college was not for her, instead she spends her time living in Oakland, California, working and traveling around the world. She just recently went to Puerto Rico and is currently planning her trip to Germany.

I just want the American dream of having a full time job, have a big house and at some point get married and have children. And of course do a lot of traveling. Might be a mediocre dream, but it is MY dream and I am slowly checking off the boxes on my list. Not only have I checked off my "graduate from college box" but I have also checked another big box off my list: get a full time job. A couple of months ago I got offered a job opportunity that I could NOT pass away. ( I will go into more detail on my next post)

There have been a lot more things that have happened to me in the last couple of months that I cannot wait to share with ya'll! But in the meantime what have YA'LL been up to?

Aqua and floral

Even though it has technically been spring for a couple of weeks, it has FINALLY started to feel like it! No more winds and no more low temperatures. Today we have a high of 88 and mostly sunny! The rest of the week doesn't look too shabby either with temperatures between low eighties and low nineties! :)

Here is my spring inspired outfit:

Jessica Lately...

It has been quite a while since the last time I blogged, (almost two months) I wasn't planning on taking a break, but at the same time I really wasn't planning on coming back either. I thought about not coming back, or at least coming back to do one last post saying good-bye, but the more I thought about it the more I realized that I was not ready to let my blog go just yet. True I have not been a good blogger, but then again that depends on your definition of what a good blogger is, to me it's not someone who posts every single day, to me it is someone who keeps it real in their posts and doesn't just post to keep her/his numbers up.

And that's exactly what I am going to do, I'm gonna catch you guys up on what you've missed since my last post. Mind you I don't really have an exciting life, but I do have a happy one :)

1. I got a raise at work

My hard work and dedication paid off, I truly enjoy doing what I do. True, retail can suck (specially around the holidays) but when you get those customers whose day you have changed because they finally were able to find an amazing wardrobe that makes them feel beautiful, those are the days that make all the headaches and late nights worth it.

2. I have gotten closer with my coworkers

We aren't just coworkers, we are family. And that's what makes us the best team. We all look out and care for each other.

3. I started dating

I gave myself some time for me, to let my heart heal. So  I wasn't looking for anything when he found me, but when he did I decided not to look back. It kinda sounds cheesy I know, perhaps sounds like some Taylor Swift lyrics, specially since we really haven't been dating for that long. BUT this is the happiest I have ever been with someone, I truly do get butterflies in my stomach any time I see him or think about him. And I hope that feeling doesn't go away, like it usually does.

4. I register for my last semester of college

It wasn't easy, in fact I got a couple of really bad headaches and almost cried twice. Paperwork, classes and tuition were being a pain in the butt. But after weeks of going back and forth with the school I was FINALLY able to register. Graduating class of 2014.. HERE I COME!

5. Going on a Road Trip

My best friend (of 10 years and I) are going to Lubbock, TX. Which is about 6 hours from our hometown to go see the one and only Luke Bryan. Who you might recall I saw back in September (you can check out the post here ) We've never been on a road trip together before so we are pretty stocked!

Of course a lot more things have happened since my last post, some good and some really bad. But these are the 5 that I am happy about and want to focus on. 2014 is all about happiness.

And of course I am happy to be back at blogging!! :D
